WGH has its roots in the demanding environment of the coal mining industry, where its directors and engineers gained unrivaled expertise in the design and development of some of the world's most sophisticated narrow gauge locomotives and largest rope hauled railways to operate on steep inclines.

What is illustrated on this page is now history and when compared with the equipment designed and used for our projects today, it can seen that the fundamental engineering knowledge still exists. At the time these trains were designed and manufactured they were extremely sophisticated and used the best available technology for drive and control. In the spring of 1989, following the sale of their mining interests, the directors formed WGH.

With its extensive experience in the mining and leisure industries, WGH are able to utilise new technological developments in the design and manufacture of its new bogies and control systems, so providing vehicles that are reliable, comfortable and efficient; meeting the modern safety standards and the exacting requirements of the Railway Inspectorate.
